Lattissima PRO vs PLUS

So far, we’ve talked about the Lattissima EN720 and EN680 in our blog, and we’ve lined out the difference between them. In this post, we’ll be looking at two other lattissima models, the Lattissima Pro and Lattissima Plus.

What Is The Difference Between The Lattissima Pro and Lattissima Plus?

Like many other espresso machines, these might look quite similar when you see them for the first time. And they are, to some extent. There are two main similarities in these two machines:

  • They are powered by Nespresso’s Capsule system. So you can ONLY use Nespresso capsules with them.
  • They have an integrated milk frother which heats and froths the milk automatically and pours it right into your cup.

What about the differences?

  • The DeLonghi Pro is a newer, much polished and much improved version of the Lattissima Plus.
  • The PRO features a touch-screen display which allows you to easily customize your drinks. The PLUS has push-buttons.
  • The PRO has 6 drinks already pre-set and ready for you to try! All pre-sets can be reprogrammed as well. The PLUS has 3 drink pre-sets.
  • Design wise: The Lattissima PRO featured beautiful Italian design, full stainless steel body with blue LED blacklight indicators. The PLUS has plastic body, and available in few colors.
  • Both machines has detachable milk frothers, but with the Lattissima PRO you can have milk froth without the need to brew coffee, which you can use for hot chocolate for example. This option isn’t available in the PLUS.
  • The Lattissima PRO features a hot water dispenser which gives you boiled water instantly.

How To Use the Lattissima Pro:

In this post, we’re comparing two of the top-rated budget espresso makers by DeLonghi, the EC702 vs. the ECO310W espresso makers. Why these two? Because both are at similar range of price and they seemingly look or have the same features, which might confuse a lot of buyers. So what we’ll do is highlight the differences between the two machines to help you make a better informed decision.

DeLonghi EC702 vs. ECO310W: What Is The Difference?

[apc id=”8″]

First of all, let us highlight the similarities between them:

  • 15-bar pressure pump espresso makers.
  • Patented milk frother/steam wand.
  • Include dual filters for use with ground coffee or espresso pods (E.S.E pods).
  • Self priming operation that eliminates start up wait time.
  • Cup warming tray.
  • 1100Watts input power

The Difference Between These Espresso Makers:

  • The ICONA ECO310W has a vintage Italian look while the EC702 has more of a sleek look.
  • The ECO310W has a slightly larger water tank capacity at 48oz (1.4L) while the EC702 has 44oz (1.3L) capacity.
  • Design wise, the ECO310W has a metal exterior available in three colors: beige, black and red. The EC702 combined plastic and metal, available in stainless steel color only.

Which Espresso Maker Should I Buy?

As far as I can see, the difference between these two machines is hardly mentionable, there’s at the same price range as well. So your choice would come to which machine would look better in your kitchen and which design you prefer. The metal exterior on the ICONA ECO310W is great for aesthetics as well as durability. Other than that, you’re buying the same features.

DeLonghi and Saeco are two of the top leading brands in the world of home espresso machines. Both companies offer a wide variety of espresso machines to choose from, but which one is best for you? Here’s a quick comparison between the two brands:

DeLonghi is an Italian brand that manufactures a wide range of home appliances, espresso machines included. Its espresso machine range includes small manual machines, semi-automatic and fully automatic machines, starting under $100 for the shopper on a small budget. While the engineering and design of the machine take place in Italy, many DeLonghi espresso machines are manufactured in China, especially smaller machines.

Here are some of the top-rated DeLonghi machine reviews and articles we’ve featured are:

Click here to see more DeLonghi espresso machines.

Saeco is an Italian brand as well, though it specializes in espresso and coffee machines and a few other coffee products. The brand was purchased by Dutch company Philips and became part of its family of products. Saeco machines now hold the name “Philips Saeco” instead of Saeco only. Most of Saeco’s espresso machines are Italian made, their range include semi-automatic and fully automatic espresso machines. They’re usually of higher quality, and they’re more durable. Although DeLonghi can seem to be a more popular brand than Saeco, it’s only because it offers low budget machines (under $100) that’s more accessible to many people. However, the quality of those machines are not comparable to Saeco’s, whose machines start at around $200+.

Here are some of of our Saeco espresso machine reviews:

If you’ve been researching Nespresso machines you might have come across a few machines that are branded DeLonghi Nespresso, which are different from Nespresso machines. Are you confused between the two? Actually, the difference is quite simple:

Nespresso Machines:

These machines are manufactured by Nespresso. They use Nespresso’s patented coffee capsules system to brew espresso with a touch of a button. Most Nespresso machines extract espresso only, in two or three cup sizes. But if you want to make coffee drinks like lattes or cappuccinos, you’ll have to bundle your machine with Nespresso’s electric milk frother (or any electric frother). See some excellent Nespresso bundles here.

Some Nespresso machines we’ve previously reviewed:

DeLonghi Nespresso Machines:

In these machines, two of the best espresso and coffee brands come together to create excellent homes espresso machines. These machines are manufactured by DeLonghi, but they use Nespresso’s capsules system to make the espresso (you’ll be buying Nespresso capsules to make the coffee), that’s what they bring from Nespresso’s world. And being a DeLonghi machine, they get their patented single touch ‘Hot Milk’ system, which is a detachable milk tank that attach to the machine and with a single touch it heats and mixes the milk to perfectly froth it for your choice of milk-based coffee drink. This means you won’t need to buy a milk frother separately. And being a detachable milk tank, it allows you to simply save any left-over milk in the fridge for next use.

Some of DeLonghi Nespresso machines reviews:

Are you getting your first espresso machine at home? If that’s the case, here’s our recommendations for your first machine. We chose these machines based on a few factors:

  1. Ease of use: they’re easy to use and get a hang of. Nothing too complicated for the starting barista.
  2. Price range: They’re very well priced under $300. There’s no need for you to spend $1000s on a machine when you’re still not ready.
  3. Durability: These machines should last you a few good years until you’re ready to upgrade to a larger or more sophisticated machine. By that time, you’ll sure be a professional at using an espresso machine at home.

1. Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma Stainless Espresso Maker:

Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma Stainless Espresso Maker

The Breville Cafe Aroma is simply beautiful, a shiny stainless steel machine that looks like a commercial machine, yet it’s made with the home user in mind. It comes with everything you need to get you started: a double filter that you can use with ground coffee or espresso pods, a steam want for milk frothing, a set of stainless steel espresso cups, and a milk pitcher.

Read our full review of the Breville Cafe Aroma by clicking here.

2. DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker:

DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker

The DeLonghi EC702 is also a great starter machine for beginners. Also stainless steel built like the previous one, it is easy to clean and maintain. While it does have the double filter and a steam wand, it lacks the extra accessories (the stainless steel cup set and pitcher), so you’ll have to buy those separately.

Click here for our full review of the DeLonghi EC702 Espresso Machine.

Note: For best results possible, you are recommended to brew your coffee using fresh ground espresso. If you don’t have a coffee grinder, see our recommended grinders here.

3. Nespresso CitiZ Automatic Espresso Maker:

Nespresso Citiz C120 Espresso Maker with Aeroccino Milk Frother

A Nespresso maker is as easy and convenient as it gets for a coffee lover. It won’t turn you into a barista, but it’s an excellent machine to make espresso and gourmet coffee drinks with a touch of a button. This machine uses Nespresso capsules that are pre-measured and make you the perfect shot every single time. All you have to do is insert a capsule and press a button, within a second you’ll be all set! The machine also comes with an automatic milk frother that creates hot or cold froth in under a minute.

You can read our full review of the Nespresso Citiz here.

Getting an automatic espresso machine is the easiest way for you to brew the ultimate fresh cup of coffee, Cappuccino, Latte or any coffee drink with a touch of a button. An automatic machine usually features a built-in coffee grinder, a milk frother, and a dedicated button for each of your preferred coffee drinks, as well as many programmable features.

DeLonghi is one of the world’s top brands when it comes to espresso machines. It has a number of automatic espresso machines to choose from, but which one is the best for you?

The number one factor in choosing an automatic espresso machine will mostly be your budget. While automatic machines can run for anywhere between $1000 and up to $3000, DeLonghi’s automatic espresso machines are within the affordable range of $600 to $1000+ – all of them include great features and perform as expect.

DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine:

DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic

The ESAM3300 Magnifica is one of the most affordable automatic espresso machines, it is easy to use, prepares great coffee and it’s simply a pleasure to have. Naturally, it will lack a feature of two of the more expensive models, but overall, it’s a top performing machine that you’ll certainly enjoy.

DeLonghi EN680.M Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker_Espresso

What’s the Difference Between DeLonghi Lattissima EN680 M and EN720 M?

The only difference between the two machines is in the Memory Function and Indicators for capsule tank and water tank:

  • The EN680 M features a memory function for Cappuccino, Latte and Macchiato. EN720 M has a memory function for: Cappuccino, Latte, Macchiato, Espresso, Long coffee, Milk and Hot Water.

DeLonghi Magnifica vs. Gaggia Brera:

Brera is another super automatic espresso maker by Italian brand Gaggia. They have similar features and prepare the same coffee beverages, but there are slight differences in design and performance.

  • Starting with the grinder, both espresso machines have built-in conical burrs, DeLonghi’s grinder are steel while Gaggia’s are made of ceramic. DeLonghi EN720 vs. EN680, Is There a Difference?

DeLonghi EN680.M Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker

We’ve previously featured the Lattissima EN680 on our blog. It’s almost identical to the EN72o in every way, however, it is an older version of it. There are extra features in the EN720 that would make it worth the price difference:

  • It has dedicated buttons for each drink. It’s all pre-set so you simply push a button and let it do everything for you.
  • It features full pod drawer and empty water tank indicators.
  • Illuminated control panel.

Overall, the EN720 is more advanced than the EN680, but also costs more. If you’re on a tight budget, you can let go of a few features and go for the EN680 without worrying about drink quality.

Sometimes it’s hard to get coffee measurements right to make that perfect cup of espresso. For that, using a pre-measured E.S.E espresso pod is your best option. These coffee pods are not to be confused with Nespresso’s capsule system. E.S.E stands for Easy Serve Espresso, these are small, pre-measured pods that you place in an espresso machine’s portafilter instead of filling it yourself and tampering the coffee. The result is a great tasting cup of espresso.

E.S.E pods are available from almost all major coffee brands, so you can get your favorite coffee in the form of an easy to serve espresso pod! But, not all espresso machines have the ability to brew these pods, so here are the top 3 espresso pod machines:

1. KRUPS XP601050 Manual Pump Espresso Machine with Thermoblock system:

KRUPS XP601050 Manual Pump Espresso Machine with Thermoblock system A beautiful and sleep die-cut stainless steel espresso machine from leading company KRUPS. The KRUPS XP601050 machine features a removable 50 ounce transparent water tank right under the portafilter, which makes it easy for you to monitor the water level. It makes espresso the regular way, or using an espresso pod. It also has a hot water dispenser and a milk frother for making gourmet coffee drinks like cappuccino and lattes. It includes a tamper, a scoop and a cup heating tray, which is something usually found in commercial espresso machines, so this is definitely a nice feature!

2. DeLonghi Kmix 15 Bars Pump Espresso Maker:

This is a well-built espresso machine that works great and looks great. It’s available in a wide range of colors as well as stainless steel. It uses espresso pods or regular coffee ground to make espresso. It also features a swivel milk frother with adjustable steam emission. Like the KRUPS espresso machine, this one also features a heating tray that will pre-heat your cups for the best espresso  results.

3. Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker:

This espresso machine by Cuisinart is an excellent manual pump machine with 15 bar pressure. It features a 53 ounce water tank, and can make up to two cups at a time, using espresso pods or ground coffee.

The machine includes a frothing cup, which the other two machines lack. It also comes with a two in one scoop/tamper, which is quite a nice tool. But of course, that’s not something you’ll need if you plan to use espresso pods instead of coffee ground.

The price range of $200 to $300 is where you can get a great espresso machine with many features and still count it as an affordable option. Within that price range, you’ll find many automatic machines that pretty much give you the best espresso with a simple push of a button  and no mess! (One of these is the Nespresso CitiZ C110 Automatic espresso machine ). So, here are some of the best espresso machines priced between $200 and $300 (prices are correct at of the writing of this post. Prices are subject to change by sellers):

Which One Of These Espresso Machines Should You Buy?

The DeLonghi EC702 vs. Cuisinart EM-100:

  • Essentially, both are the same, except for very few difference:
  • The Cuisinart has larger water tank (53 oz vs 44 oz)
  • The Cuisinart includes many accessories: coffee scoop, tamper and frothing jug. The DeLonghi does not.
  • The DeLonghi is slightly more powerful at 1100 Watts vs. 1000 watts for the Cuisinart.

DeLonghi Dedica or DeLonghi EC702?

DeLonghi Dedica is a better choice for:

  • Its more modern looks, sleek design and polished stainless steel housing.
  • The narrow width of the machine makes it a great choice for many people who don’t have a lot of kitchen space. Also makes it great for small office use or dorm use.

On the other hand, the EC702 has:

  • Quicker boiler which allows you to brew one shot after another with nearly no wait time.
  • It has a larger water reservoir.
  • But on the downside, it’s built of plastic housing.
